FLY Program

Effective leaders are made, not born.  All youth have underlying traits that make them potential leaders, given the right stimuli and environment.  The foundational assumption of this program and curriculum is that everyone has the raw materials of leadership, but perhaps sometimes those qualities aren't nurtured or well-guided.  This program seeks to change the way the participants see leaders by creating specific experiences that allow them to create a new definition of leadership that includes themselves.

Purpose

The purpose of the FLY Program is to reach potential youth leaders from non-traditional backgrounds and circumstances and encourage and inspire them to find - and follow - the leader in themselves.  We recognize that our work can have a deep impact on nontraditional leaders, who are labeled by others as "at-risk" and "special needs."  In general, these teens are overlooked and undervalued with regards to their potential contributions as leaders.
