ABOUT JOSH
Attorney. Professor. Husband. Father. Eagle Scout. These are just some of the words that describe Josh Levenson. Josh is a proud native of South Florida, having grown up in Sunrise, Florida. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, where he graduated in the top two percent of his class. Josh then matriculated to the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he also graduated at the top of his class and with multiple book awards.
After graduation, Josh joined the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP, and is a partner in the firm’s litigation department. For 15 years, he has practiced in the areas of aviation litigation, commercial litigation, estates and trusts litigation, and landlord-tenant litigation. Josh is also chair of the Holland & Knight’s Fort Lauderdale Public and Charitable Services (PCS) Department. Outside of Holland & Knight, Josh is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami’s Herbert School of Business.
When Josh is not practicing law or teaching, he focuses his efforts on giving back to the community. Josh is an active member of the Leadership Broward Foundation and graduate of Class 37. He has served Leadership Broward in various leadership roles through his service on its board of directors such as Program Chair of Youth Leadership Broward, Program Chair-Elect of Leadership Broward Class 43, Secretary, and currently as general counsel. In addition to Leadership Broward, Josh also remains active with the Boy Scouts of America. There, Josh has been honored with Scouting’s highest honors, including the rank of Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor Membership in the Order of the Arrow.
Josh’s legal acumen and dedication to serve his community have been recognized by all the major media outlets in South Florida and legal aid organizations. For example, he was named: a 40 Under 40 honoree by both the South Florida Business Journal and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; an Up and Comer by South Florida Business and Wealth; and a Rising Star by the Daily Business Review. Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida presented him with its Commitment to Justice Award in recognition of his pro bono work. The Sun Sentinel wrote a career spotlight about Josh titled “Be Prepared” Isn’t Just a Cliché, and he is listed in the Best Lawyers magazine.
Josh is married to Dr. Kara Cavuoto, whom is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, where she specializes in pediatric ophthalmology. They enjoy attending Metallica concerts together and they have one daughter, Hannah.
